Product Designer
Apply for this roleAbout the Foundation:
The OpenClaw Foundation is the steward of the world's largest open source AI agent project. Its mission is grounded in a foundational conviction: that AI must be open, safe, and ultimately owned by the individuals and communities who use it.
The Foundation operates across three core mandates:
Advancing research into the human-agent relationship while continuously evolving the OpenClaw platform;
Maintaining and hardening the codebase to ensure security, reliability, and long-term sustainability;
Establishing interoperability standards for the emerging agent era, defining how agents configure, communicate, establish trust, transact, and represent user identity across ecosystems.
Modeled after the governance structures that shaped the open web and modern computing infrastructure, the Foundation serves as a neutral, multi-stakeholder convening body — the equivalent of W3C or the Linux Foundation for the agentic AI era. Major laboratories and infrastructure providers collaborate under its umbrella on shared, vendor-neutral infrastructure, with no single organization controlling the roadmap or direction.
The OpenClaw Foundation believes that individuals should have full sovereignty over their AI: their data, their interactions, and the behavior and personality of their agents. Open source is not incidental to this mission but central to it — code must remain free to use, modify, and build upon. The future of agentic AI will be defined by a broad, developer-driven community, not prescribed by any single commercial interest.
The Role
The OpenClaw Foundation is seeking a Product Designer to help define how millions of people interact with AI agents in their daily lives.
This is not a traditional product design role focused on optimizing existing workflows or incremental feature improvements. You will help invent entirely new interaction paradigms for the emerging agent era — designing systems where humans collaborate, delegate, communicate, and build trust with increasingly capable AI agents.
As one of the earliest designers at the Foundation, you will operate across product strategy, interaction design, prototyping, research, and visual design. You will work closely with engineers, researchers, open source contributors, and community members to translate complex technical capabilities into intuitive, delightful user experiences.
The work spans consumer products, developer tooling, agent interfaces, identity systems, trust and permissions frameworks, open standards, and experimental research projects. One week you may be prototyping a new agent interaction model; the next you may be helping define how users understand agent memory, permissions, ownership, or identity across interoperable ecosystems.
The ideal candidate is deeply curious about the future of human-computer interaction and excited to help shape how people interact with AI over the coming decade.
What You'll Do
Lead end-to-end product design from concept through implementation across The Foundation’s products and initiatives.
Design intuitive experiences for AI agents, workflows, developer tools, and user-facing applications.
Collaborate closely with engineers and researchers to translate emerging AI capabilities into usable products.
Create wireframes, prototypes, interaction flows, visual systems, and production-ready designs.
Conduct user research and synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into product decisions.
Explore new interaction paradigms for human-agent collaboration, delegation, memory, trust, and personalization.
Help establish design systems, UX principles, and visual standards across the OpenClaw ecosystem.
Contribute to standards discussions around agent identity, permissions, interoperability, and user control.
Work directly with open source contributors and community members to gather feedback and improve product experiences.
Champion user-centered thinking throughout the Foundation.
